There was plenty for us to pore over during yesterday’s Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, but there is one character in particular that has caught the hearts and minds of everyone who watched: Mario Kart World’s cow on scooter.

This cow (I am more than certain, as is the internet) is a cow from Moo Moo Meadows, who has apparently broken free of its farmyard confine to join in the karting chaos by riding and grinding on the back of what I can only describe as an old school boom box on wheels.

Since Mario Kart World’s reveal yesterday, social media has been awash with people falling for the Moo Moo Meadows cow.

“Did i just see a playable moo moo meadows cow in mario kart,” one post asks with a Gif of Family Guy’s Brian looking shocked. “lmao the cow from Moo Moo Meadows??? is playable in Mario Kart,” another adds.

One very excited fan wrote, with a very healthy use of caps lock: “YOU CAN PLAY AS THE FREAKING COW?!?!!!!! MARIO KART WORLD?!!!!!!”

Others, meanwhile, have joked the true race on Mario Kart World’s release will be who gets to the cow first.

Another X user joked that the bovine needed to calm down a notch, otherwise they were going to get into some trouble, however Moo Moo Meadows’ cow was having none of it.

Yesterday’s trailer has even inspired some fan art, showing Mario Kart World’s cow pulling off the Akira slide (see header above and below).

So, moo-ve over Princess Peach. In Mario Kart World, it is all about the badass cow! Well, I say all about. It would be remiss of me not to also give a mention to a very distinguished-looking King Boo. Oh, that jacket does suit you, sir.

Mario Kart World will be a Switch 2 launch title, along with the likes of Split Fiction, Cyberpunk 2077 and Drag x Drive.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is due to be released on 5th June. You can catch up with all the details in our dedicated Switch 2 Nintendo Direct: Everything announced article here.
