Activision pulls Call of Duty: Warzone from iOS and Google Play stores

Activision has removed Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile from iOS and Android app stores.

Last week, the firm announced its decision as a result of “the scope of the game being streamlined” and it “not meeting expectations”.

As a result, the game was pulled from stores yesterday (May 18).

While the game and its servers remain operational for those who had it installed before the cut off date, Activision will no longer be providing new content or updates. Players can no longer spend real currency in-game, either.

“The decision was made after careful consideration,” Activision said on its support page.

“We’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, [but] it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”

Players that had the game installed before it was removed will continue to have access to cross-progression and shared inventories. Servers will remain online until further notice.

Any remaining CoD points (in-game currency) can be used for content available in the mobile store. However, players can not purchase any items, content, or CoD points with real currency.

Activision also noted that refunds “are not available for previously purchased in-game content”.
