Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl – the former Xbox console exclusive – is coming to PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro.

“The Perimeter expands,” Stalker 2 developer GSC Game World shared on social media earlier today, along with a new PS5 announcement trailer, which you can see below. We don’t have a release date yet for the game’s PlayStation debut, but it is currently expected “late” 2025.

The upcoming release will make the most of the PlayStation 5’s DualSense features, the team said, highlighting the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. In addition, “further technical enhancements for the PS5 Pro are also in development,” GSC told IGN. You can add Stalker 2 to your PS5 wishlist now.

Stalker 2 initially launched across Xbox and PC last year, following a rather tumultuous period for the studio. Prior to its release, GSC Game World delayed Stalker 2 several times due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The studio relocated staff to safely finish the project elsewhere, while others joined Ukraine’s armed forces, and it also dealt with Russian hackers who leaked test builds. GSC has since released a documentary detailing Stalker 2’s particularly difficult development.

On its eventual arrival last November, the game was hampered by multiple technical problems, which the Stalker 2 team acknowledged from the off. It has since released a number of patches to address these issues.

None of this harmed the game’s popularity, however, and just a few days after the release, GSC announced Stalker 2 had sold 1m copies.

Heart of Chornobyl “stays faithful to the open world survival shooter of yesteryear,” reads Eurogamer’s Stalker 2 review.
