A Hell is Us demo was available back in June for those who managed to play it in time, but it’s now returned in an updated form for PC, plus for the first time on Xbox and PlayStation 5. Be quick, as the demo will disappear on 28th August.
The refined demo for the upcoming action-adventure game includes new features, quality-of-life improvements, and tweaks to gameplay, meaning it’s more representative of the game that you’ll be able to buy in September.
Hell is Us demo patch notes:
New Camera Options
- Camera Follow toggle on/off.
- Movement Lag and Rotation Lag adjustments for smoother control.
New Inventory Organisation
- Added Favorites and Archives tabs for quicker access to your items.
New Difficulty Screen
- Choose your preferred difficulty level more easily.
Optimisation
- Graphics improvements — now playable in 4K at 60 FPS, among other enhancements.
Photo Mode Added
- Capture your most stunning moments directly in-game.
Added Localisations
- French voice-over now available.
- Text language support for Chinese and Japanese.
Parry & Riposte Tweaks
- Only certain attacks can now be parried.
- Added a visual cue for parryable attacks.
- New dedicated tutorial.
- Riposte camera sequence now only plays once every 5 to 10 ripostes.
Lock-On / Targeting Tweaks
- Added up/down switching when enemies, at the centre of the screen, are in front of one another.
- Smoother camera movement.
Miscellaneous
- Datapad full boot screen only shows the first time you open it.
- Multiple bug fixes.
- Various optimisations for better performance.

You can download the Hell is Us demo now on Steam for PC, the Xbox store, and on PlayStation Network. The full release of Hell is Us arrives on September 4.
