CD Projekt Red has announced Cyberpunk: Edgrunners has been renewed for a second season.
The ten-episode anime adaptation is currently in production at Netflix in collaboration with Studio Trigger, which worked on the first iteration.
Kai Ikarashi will make his directorial debut with the series, and is joined by Masahiko Otsuka and lead character designer Kanno Ichigo.
“To again have the legendary Studio Trigger along for the ride makes us at CD Projekt Red so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve ever done before,” said series showrunner, story writer, and producer Bartosz Sztybor.
Speaking during a panel at 2025’s Anime Expo in Los Angeles (via The Verge), Szytbor said that the show will be “of course, sadder, but it will also be darker, more bloody and more raw”.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was initially planned to be a standalone project. The first series was met with critical acclaim, and boosted CD Projekt’s Q3 revenue for 2022.
Cyberpunk 2077 also benefited from the show’s popularity, experiencing a spike of one million daily players after the show aired. An Edgerunners-themed update was added to the game for new and returning players.
At the time, CD Projekt joint CEO Michał Nowakowski said the developer was “totally committed to developing the Cyberpunk IP further”.
“We’ve invested a lot of time and effort into building this franchise, and we definitely want to build on top of what is there right now – new stories, new experiences, new content – not just in the video game format.”
