Former Naughty Dog director, Vinit Agarwal, is establishing a new Japanese studio.

Agarwal revealed the news on social media, revealing in “a couple of life updates” that he was shortly relocating to Japan and “forming a game studio.” He promised “more on that soon.”

The director has not revealed the scope of his new studio or his next project, but has previously hinted he’d like to continue making multiplayer games “because that’s what [he’s] passionate about.”

According to Agarwal’s own LinkedIn, the game director has spent 10 of the last 14 years at Naughty Dog, shipping three titles on PlayStation – The Last of Us Part II, Uncharted the Lost Legacy, and Uncharted 4. Prior to that, Agarwal worked in mobile and free-to-play.

Earlier this year, when Agarwal revealed he was parting with Naughty Dog, the director said he’d “decided to pursue a new adventure, to make something of my own.”

“Excited to share more eventually! I’ve learned an incredible amount from my brilliant colleagues at ND, and through the mentorship of many, including Robert Cogburn, Erin Daly, Bruce Straley, Neil Druckmann and Evan Wells. It has been a life defining experience that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my career. Here’s to the next chapter.”
