The Interactive Games & Entertainment Association has announced the launch of Game On Australia, a digital showcase that aims to highlight the Australian game development industry.

Supported by the Australian Government through the International Cultural Diplomacy Arts Fund, the Game On Australia initiative seeks to spotlight “the creative talent, infrastructure, and government support that position Australia as one of the world’s most attractive destinations for game development,” according to the press release announcing the showcase.

At the centre of the showcase is the Game On Australia website, which provides resources for Australian developers on funding opportunities and industry facts and statistics.

The website also highlights the benefits of funding Australian talent to potential investors, including the 30% Federal Digital Games Tax Offset.

Introduced in 2022, the DGTO allows eligible companies that produce digital games in Australia to claim 30% of their total qualifying Australian development expenditure.

“Game development in Australia is more than just a creative endeavour, it’s smart business,” Ron Curry, CEO of IGEA, wrote in the press release. “With world-class talent, generous tax incentives, and a proven track record of global success, Australia is ready to welcome the world’s studios, publishers, and partners into our thriving game development ecosystem.”
