Netflix’s animated Tomb Raider series seems to be coming to an end.

That’s according to Variety, which reports that the second season of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft may be its last following its premiere on December 11, 2025.

GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Netflix for further clarification.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft was initially announced in 2021, premiering on October 10, 2024. It was renewed for a second season shortly after.

The animated series isn’t the only recent adaptation of the video game franchise.

Yesterday it was announced that Amazon’s live-action Tomb Raider series will begin production on January 19, 2026, with Sophie Turner as Lara Croft.

The series was greenlit in May 2024, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge at the helm alongside Wayward Pines creator Chad Hodge and Shōgun director Jonathan van Tulleken.
