A new Nioh game was announced at tonight’s PlayStation State of Play and there’s a demo out right now.

Nioh 3 is the latest in Team Ninja’s soulslike series set in Japan’s Sengoku period, following the studio’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of the Ronin.

The game will see players use two combat styles: Samurai and Ninja. The Samurai style will be familiar to series veterans, but with new actions like enhanced martial arts and deflections for last minute parries.

Ninja style, meanwhile, allows for quick dodges and aerial movement, as well as Ninjitsu techniques like leaving a clone after an attack, and the last minute Evade. Players can switch between both style instantly.

Nioh 3 will also have an open field design, unlike previous games in the series. Players will take the role of a young warrior poised to become the next Shogun.

The game is set for release on PS5 in 2026. Until then, this demo is available now until 18th June. It includes an early look at the game as well as its character creation.
