Twitch has released gaming-specific data for the first time, providing insight into its viewership and engagement stats for 2024.

The streaming platform captured over 60% of global gaming live streaming audiences in 2024 compared to other services, with viewers watching more than 15.6 billion hours of gaming content.

The platform also surpassed 105 million average monthly visitors last year.

Grand Theft Auto 5 remained the most-watched game on the platform, over a decade after its launch in 2013. Audiences watched over 1.4 billion hours of content, which was broadcast globally for more than 25.8 million hours.

League of Legends followed in second with over 1.19 million viewers. Competitive shooters including Valorant, Call of Duty, and Fortnite also pulled in large audiences, with Valorant seeing a viewership of over 804 million hours.

Minecraft was another popular title among viewers, exceeding 379 million hours watched globally.

There was also a “significant growth trend” in streaming formats, with virtual streamers (VTubers) experiencing an “unprecedented surge in popularity. These streamers present themselves through 2D or 3D virtual avatars.

According to Twitch, VTubers experienced “enormous growth” on its platform, with 1.1 billion hours viewed – a 10% increase year-on-year. The UK saw the biggest surge of audiences viewing this content, with a 200% growth of hours watched.
